Depends on the mic and the player, but a high-impedance mic like an old Atatic or Shure is going to work just fine with a guitar input. This isn't the best solution, but those Crate VC508 amps are nice for harp. Maybe you should play a bunch of amps to figure out where you want to go and then design an amp based on what you like. I will say that you can probably buy a silverface Champ and mod it to tweed specs for a LOT less than you can build an amp (any amp.) Email me or post back if you want to know more.
