I once had a customer who tried in vain to get a rich heavy metal tone out of his Pro Reverb. I found a guy who traded the Pro even for a 50W Marshall mv and my customer bought a 2x12 cab. He was really happy and I didn't have to hack a perfectly nice Fender to try to get a sound it couldn't deliver. Some things to evaluate: 1) What kind of preamp / effects are you using? 2) What kind of cab(s) are you playing thru? I understand that you might view a tube change as a quick sound change, but that might not be the solution.
