On the other tip, though, some of these tubes are applicable to guitar amp use. Many old sets used output pentodes like 6bq5s and 6f6s which are useable. You might not find any 12xx7 types but you'll probably dig up a lot of 6av6s and 12av6s which are great for homebrew tube preamps... Check out my website for plans for a pentode tube preamp!
