| Carl | Re: Oscillocope questions??????? Mark, The 1X, 10X scope probes have a compensation cap/trimpot which you can tweek to get a square-wave's leading edge as sharp as you can without overshoot. They're also shielded to keep noise out, which multimeter probes are not. Makes a big difference: you don't have to guess if that fuzziness/AC-junk is from the circuit or the probes. I think you'll be happier buying a $20.00 or such probe, and a Female-BNC to banana-plug convertor (watch that be more than the probes) for your scope. I'm right on the banana input jacks, eh? At the very least, get some low-impedance shielded cable (not guitar cable), banana-plugs (red and black, natch), and clip-tips (again, red and black) and solder that mess together. Keep the to length less than about a meter. It won't be compensated, but it'll be better than using multimeter probes ... - Carl B. |
