Wow!

Have you heard Eric Johnson's first instructional tape? At one point he plays the intro to Hendrix's "Bold as Love" and it sounds great and I'm almost totally sure that it was the Dumble amp without the tubescreamer or Fuzzface on. I think that is the case because at one point when he is describing his rig he says the middle amp is a Dumble then procedes to play it by itself then turns on the pedals one by one. The Dumble is really cool- it sounded like the bass was distorted but the highs were clean and sparkly- almost like the opposite of a tubescreamer. I guess he either had the amp cranked up to the point where it was distorting or it wasn't a Steel String Singer. Does anyone out there in ampland know? I'm trying to solve the mystery of that sound!
