Re: Anyone try Pre AND Post EQ?
I've always been a big fan of pre and post eq.
My modified Chan.Sw. Marshall has a channel that's basically '59 Bassman/early Marshall. Being indecisive about what cap I wanted to put in parallel with the gain control, (Marshall seems to have been all over the place on this) I put a rotary switch in the back that offers a variety. I now find that I adjust this control all the time, and hardly ever change the gain itself. Not that I'm recommending this control configuration, but a simple variable high-pass filter between the first stage and the cathode follower seems to be a great way to adjust the "attitude" of this type of preamp.
