They are a black anodized copper device with cooling fins that fit over an individual tube and rapidly removes heat from them noiselessly. You can obviously use a fan to do the same thing but then you have a noise problem at low volumes. Pearl tube coolers are supposed to extend the life of the tube by a factor of 100% and are available from high end audio stores at a price alot less then the cost of a new tube. Maybe the 100% number is marketing hype but I can verify that they are effective at helping tubes to run cooler. |
