I wish there were more people like you that were familiar with the small-signal transconductance model of the triode. Some time ago, I posted a link to a site with a nice explanation of the model, but now I can't find it. I think it was Engineering Musician's something or other... By the way, the incorrect equation for the Rk-Ck cutoff frequency is in Audio Cyclopedia and in Morgan Jones book. It is an ok approximation because people usually want a very low 'cutoff' frequency and nobody cares about the difference between a 1 Hz or 2 Hz cutoff because that's below the audible range. But guitar amps sometimes use a small Ck for EQ shaping and place the critical frequency in the audio range, so it is important to use the correct equation, even if it is complicated. Try both equations for .1 and .68 uF and you'll see what I mean. |
