This type of cabinet uses a port on the speaker baffle (sometimes with a tube or duct) to take the energy produced by the back of the speaker and turn it into entergy in phase with the frount of the speaker. The cabinet can be tuned for best guitar response to peak at just under 80Hz to acheive max efficiency. Because the speaker cabinet is open to air, better cooling occurs like an open cabinet. The speaker maker should be able to help you with construction plans.
