| jon | Re: Dumb electronics question (long)? Hi Ken, I knew there had to be other uses for the capacitive reactance formula besides figuring out what value cathode bypass cap to use..... Looking thru my parts bin, I've got a number of polyester, polypropylene, polystyrene film caps with DC ratings of 200-630V. The only AC specs I see for any of them is Mouser's listing that the 200V DC type 225 polyester OD's are good for 140 AC, and the type 715P Polypropylene OD's are good for 155 VAC. (Of course, I don't have .8's @200V DC, and the 225P .8's @ 100V DC are huge... Should I be OK with any plastic cap of .8 uF and a DC rating of 200+ V, or should I use only those with listed AC rating? I'm trying to do a tube stomp box, and space is a consideration.... Thanx, Jon |
