I like the Texas Specials alot: stock, the guitar was a little on the thin side, it had a nice resonance when played acoustically, but sounded wimpy with distortion. The TSs increased the mids, but also the bass side as well. As for crunchiness and sustain, I like to have good tone and more output than vice versa, since I can control things with the volume knob (I like to play with the amp turned up and work the guitar's volume for clean/dirty). Sustain-wise, I had to lower the pickups a good bit over the stock ones, which did increase the sustain slightly with the neck pickup. Not so noticeable with the bridge.
