My Strat is setup this way (mexi-Strat with Texas Specials) and the frequency reponse is very good. I find the neck pickup a little too trebly sometimes (with a Twin Reverb) and turn the tone pot down to 8 or 9 most of the time. The tone was way too trebly with a 500k pot for me. Note that I keep the pickups set pretty low, just above the pickguard, not quite flush.
