I have compared the original DP 401 (the brightest VV at that time) with Kinmans AVn56. The Kinman has chime, the VV not. The magnets of the VV are very strong and cause especially the G string to warble. No problems with the Kinmans. The fact that DiMarzio now came up with the VV DP 401 Version 2.1 (or whatever it's called - www.dimarzio.com) is just a hint that DiMarzio did not succeed copying Kinmans design. He succeed sueing Kinman. What a nice fellow.
