Check the solder first as stated before. opamps sometimes make noises like that if the input stage gets overvoltaged/overcurrented. I have not seen the inside of a soundgear bass but if you can trace the wires from the pickup to the first active device check if there is a series resistor into the input of the opamp(opamp is a guess could be a transistor) If there is a series resistor the opamp is probley ok. Other things to check are the electro caps for leakage and the construction of the control pots.
