Both these sounds have their appeal. I don't notice that big a difference in liveliness between my Fralins and my Kinmans, but that may have a lot to do with the fact that the guitar containing the Fralins (very light and resonant swamp ash body with maple/rosewood neck and Gotoh vintage-style bridge) is quite a bit darker sounding, acoustically, than the one in which I installed the Kinmans.
