| terry | Re: Kinmans kill, man I also recently installed a set of Kinman Traditional AVns on an Anderson Hollow Classic, ash w/ maple neck. I have to say that the lack of hum is a bit disconcerting, but as Jim said, they are dead quiet. I have not played an old strat with real aged pups, so I can't comment on how authentic they are. The Kinman's do lack the high end sparkle of my Fralin Blues (swamp ash, maple, vintage style trem w/ Callaham block). I was told this was due to the demagnatizing, and that the Kinman Woodstocks would preserve that. The Traditional AVn set is very punchy and responsive to the touch. They can drive an amp very nicely. I do find the Fralins to be more vibrant and lively. I notice there was also some discussion about the Callaham trem block. There is no question in my mind that there is a significant sonic improvement in the sound -- more highs and more bounce. terry |
