Banjo tuners on 12 string

Charlie	Banjo tuners on 12 string I am in the process of building a semi hollow body 12 string guitar. In order to avoid the tightly spaced pegs, I originaly planned to use a firebird type of peg for the octave and unison strings, but they appear to be too big. My next thought was to use a banjo peg for the octave and unison strings, but i'm not sure if the gear ratio will work properly with guitar strings? Anybody have any thoughts? Charlie
