MG	Re: Peter Green Tone I've seen a lot of guitars with the polepieces like you described, it does affect the tone some, as the exposed polepieces are now in a different position. It does not make the pickup out of phase with the other pickup. A friend had some real PAFs that were out of phase, to fix this, we took apart the pickup (very carefully) and flipped the magnet. That put it in phase with the other pickup.
