AMZRe: Resistor between pot and ground for tone
If you put a 250k resistor in series with the 250k tone pot, you will not be able to adjust the tone control beyond what would be considered halfway, or "5". If you are not interested in the heavy rolloff of high frequencies then this might be acceptable.

If the tone pot is log taper, then the new response would still be log taper only over a different range of tones. Linear, of course, would also remain linear.
