| Barry | Identifying Tokai "Strat" pickups This is just a shot in the dark, BUT... I have a Tokai "Super Edition" Stratezoid -- killer playing instrument with great tone that exceeds any Am Std I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Anyway, the pickups in it are staggered pole piece and look identical to old Fender pickups (no surprise I guess). They use the grey fiber bobbin found in many Fender p/ups. The coils are wax potted and the wire is cloth covered. The only idnetifying features on the pickups is a "V" in blue ink on the fiber bobbins. Are these anything other than Tokai copies of something else? The pickups sound very good and are quite a bit hotter than stock Am Std p/ups. I was just wondering if maybe they were actually some Fender p/up and not whatever Tokai used way back when. Thanks, Barry |
