Re: Stew-Mac neck jig, how is it used??
Thanks for your info, I'm getting the global idea but I need a little more precision. Seems to me that if you set the neck in the jig so that it holds its shape as if the tension were on the neck, this would mean the relief on the neck would be present, so your fingerboard surface would not be completly flat when you come to work on it. When you then level the figerboard or the frets, you will therefore take out the relief of the fingerboard or fret surface. But the guitar neck is desinged to function at it's best with a slight relief. So do you take of some string tension slightly before setting the neck in the jig so that when you work the fingerboard you work a close to flat surface... this way when you put the strings back on the desinged relief of the neck will come back easily??
I hope you can see what I am getting to, and if I am off track, let me know.
