I haven't used the Custom Custom, but I have a Super 3 in the bridge position on my Les Paul. I've played it into a '65 Bassman head and when cranked, it can nail the tone of "Fuel" and "Bad Seed" from Metallica and their concert distortion tone. This is just my $.02
