Best sound out of '65 Bassman
Hi. I bought a '65 Blackface Bassman head, and a 4x10 Marshall cab with celestions in it. Tubes are Sovtek 6L6's and 12AX7's. I would really like to get more drive out of it, there's a lot of headroom. It doesnt break up until about 8 and even at 10 it's very clean. I don't like pedals, but I'd like to get a little dirt out of this amp. Any suggestions?

If the cab is the problem, i can get rid of it no prob. I got the little bugger with a Marshall Lead 100 head for $250, so it wouldn't hurt to sell it.

Basically, any suggestion on how to get the best possible sound from the amp would be appreciated.

Also, I'm using the amp for guitar but also using it with a bass for a relatively quiet band. The cab seems loud enough, and the speakers arent being punished, so will this continue to work, or will i eventually cause a sudden and premature death to the speakers?

Take care.
Jim
