The "new" voltage readings I posted, using the NOS 6V6, were taken with all tubes in place. I ordered a 470 ohm resistor for the cathode. It didn't arrive yet - too bad, I was hoping to get to it this weekend. I may experiment with other cathode resistor values as well, and also want to try the zener diode.  
 
On the positive side, in it's present high-voltage, high-current condition, the amp is sounding really good. Of course, I can't run it like that. I'll make some changes and report back. Thanks - Dan
