| Greg | My bass amp keeps cutting out!!! I have this long-standing problem that just keeps getting more and more serious. I started out with a very simple Hartke 115 combo amp and an old Epiphone 5-string. Somewhere along the line, my amp started doing this weird thing where it would cut the signal to the speaker ever once in a while, and then something in there would click and I'd have a signal again. Well, I figured I must have just overheated it once or twice and that was that. But then it started happening nearly every time I played through it. So I bought myself an Ampeg B2R on E-Bay, and plugged that puppy into the speaker cab. No luck, and now I'm out $300. So I replace the speaker itself with a Peavey Black Widow (yes, this is what it's come to!) and replaced the wiring in the cabinet as well. Well, tonight it happened again. I tried another bass. I tried another cable. I have now officially tried everything I know of, and it's still happening. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG? Anyone know? I need to get this worked out by Wednesday, my next club date. Thanks to anyone who can help. |
