| Tom | Laney VC50 squealing noise! Hi! I've got a Laney VC50, all tube amp. It has two channels with additional drive stages on both channels. I love this amp! On clean settings, it's got this big fenderish sound, and on dirty settings, it sounds almost like a Marshall. It's got it all. Now, the thing is, it makes this horrible squealing noise when I switch to the additional drive stage on channel B - the dirty channel. This squealing starts *only* when I add signal to the circuit, with the drive stage engaged - and it won't go away when I mute the strings. There's one more thing to this as well, the squealing noise isn't there on lower volumes, but as soon as I turn it up, there's the squealing... It's really annoying - this being my favorite amp, and all. Please help me! Spoke to an amp tech here in Stockholm, and he told me I should rebias the amp. Then the noise would go away... If you have experience with squealing tube amps... Please post!!! Tom Comment: I've changed all the tubes, so there are no faulty tubes in there... |
