This is a bad idea. What you could do is try to find two speakers with an open voice coil, something that doesn't have a 'rub' to it. Long before you were born, Philco had a floor model radio with four speakers (of various sizes), but only one was 'wired up'. Why? They were called passive radiators, and they operated on sympathetic vibrations to enhance certain frequency ranges. Every speaker, whether connected or not, is an air pump where the movement of air through them can be seen and measured. Why am I telling you this? It is a neat idea to try. Having no speakers in the top half of your cabinet will make a very inefficient cabinet. Not good for sound levels or tone. If the speakers must come out, put something else in there, even a 12" piece of plywood cut out in a circle. The passive radiator was just a random thought and might be a waste of a good 12" speaker, which is why I suggested a blown speaker (but no rattles or buzzes, OK?). You may stumble onto a different sound that'll have everyone asking how you do it.
