JCM800 4212- SOS
Hi Marshall Amps Gurus,
I have a Marshall JCM800 model 4212 50w split ch. combo. Running it alone it has an abundance of volume. I have always run a Quadraverb GT in its effects loop to round the sound out and fatten it up a bit. Loop modified to line level for this to reduce hiss as there is no level control on this model's effects loop. While the top volume was significantly reduced it was still plenty loud enough. I ran this as effects only and used the Marshall's clean & dirty channels with a CS-2 for "lead" levels. Primitive in the extreme but never the less effective
Since I got a Digitech 2120 DSP/Preamp the effects loop is not the place for this beast. I believe its called "preamp conflicts"(?)as I am using the 2120 as it was intended (talking preamps).
Can anyone tell me how to create a preamp input to run my amp's output power amp stage/s with just a master volume control using the Digitechs Preamp to drive the amp? Remembering that running the output directly to the effects return does not work in the 4212 as I end up only with a presence control and no volume at all.
It may be easier to get a new rack amp but I love my Marshall, we've done over 1500 live gigs in the 90's from 3 to 30 000 people and everything in between, its always roared!
Besides, I'm a working musician, and
Whats the difference between a sound financial investment and a musician?
Eventually the investment matures and starts earning money
Any replies/help greatly appreciated, we have our first gig rapidly approaching and the cymbals are louder than my guitar! ( I wish I was joking...)

PS. Am I even on the right track?
