Re: .22 Caliber Mids
Jim, you have summed up this amplifier very accurately! After the nylon supports are dislodged, after all the "flying leads" are unsoldered, you get to flip the board over Halfway to remove the remaining "flying leads" underneath. It is a good 25 minutes if you've done it before! This was my first "real" amp, and I still have it. Though I don't think I will for long. Anyhoo, here are some mods I have done to get less mids/more headroom.
1)This one doesn't require removing the board. Change the 75pf cap on the volume knob to 220pf. This will let you run the tone stack a little different, and seems to help suck out that disgusting midrange. This affects both channels. The "treble" is the most powerful knob in the tone stack.

2)This one you gotta flip the board, but only once! Change the 47pf cap coming from the input jack to something a little bigger like 100 pf. I used silver mica here. When you take out the original cap, locate where it came from on the Back of the board. Solder in the new cap on the back of the board. This way, you can fiddle with the value once you have it all back together simply by sliding out the chassis. Good luck, if you come across any cool ideas please let me know. Mark
