preamp/direct outs

Jim	preamp/direct outs two questions. can i use my extension speaker out (on a bf bassman) as a direct out to go to a PA along with the regular speaker out running my cabinet, or will this be some kind of a problem. i really hate to have to buy another mic to mic it if i cant direct out of it. also, someone mentioned putting a preamp with said bassman. is it possible to do that? if so, how and why?
