Re: I thought my ears were burning..........
Dale,

Improvements:

I HATED the gain channel as it came stock. I bought the amp for the nice crunch of the clean channel when pushed.

Steve and my "tweedification" of these amps removes a tremendous amount of gain and compression from the preamp. This makes the amp much more responsive to picking dynamics. The removal of a bunch of RC components in the signal path means you get more "guitar" sound and less "amp" sound coming out the speakers. In my opinion this is a good thing.

The amp now has a nice voxy/marshally crunch that is more than the normal channel and less than the original OD channel.

As far as the value of the mods goes, this amp isn't the be all/end all. However money for toys is pretty tight for me so a real Marshall or Vox isn't on the horizon right now. I'm MUCH happier having the PV to tide me over.

I'm not sure what you mean between the difference between my mods and Steves mods. I intially took alot of Steves suggestions about adjustable bias mods, replacing caps with sprague OD's and etc. Those were just little tweaks to the amps voicing. It wasn't until he published his "tweed" mod for the C50 that I was really happy with the C30's OD channel though.

The one thing I haven't been able to do is reconfigure the boost switch to my liking. I refer to it as the "suck" switch. I could do more experimenting but I'm fairly happy and the thought of taking the amp apart any mroe just to fix that feature is too much......

regards,
David
