| zgrav | Re: Electar Tube 10 mod help needed... Update on MusicYo inventory -- looks like the latest batch of the Electar 10s is already sold out, but MusicYo says they are getting a larger shipment in around the 25th of the month. I ordered mine last week and it came this past Monday. I am in the process of modding it and have one question -- the bypass Cap C2 has a value on the schematic of 0.47 uF (with no volatage specified), and the recommended modification is to drop the value to something much lower, like .033 uF or even .022 uF. The stock C2 cap is huge, and rated at over 400 volts. This is the same cap value that is used in the negative feedback loop, where that high voltage is specified on the schematic. Is that volatage cap really needed for the C2 bypass, since it looks like its just in the audio signal path where the other caps in the circuit are rated at less than 50 volts --- or is this the point where the large capacitor is needed to block the high voltage from the signal path? |
