| chuck | Re: Cool, Bret "I checked with Sean at Soldano and basically Gary's amps are still bone stock. Clapton and Knopfler's amps were stock for several years but then had the effects loops moved" Im not sure what i think of the above statement. I mean, if the amps weren't stock and they tell you at soldano that they are tottaly different, then were does that leave them w/ selling thier product? It would probably be too much work to build an amp that can't use the mass produced pc board, is point to point and unique. But for a high profile client, it would make sense to build whatever makes EC happy and work on it alot. Then people see the soldano logo and say, "i have to buy that amp". Mike is the tech, and probably spilled the beans not thinking much about it, and sean is the buisnessman who is thinking about selling the soldano product and giving customer support for it. I also had a slo for years and never really got anything close to EC's (- effects) or knopflers tone. The gary m tone was ballpark though. This is just a thought though, could be wrong and they are all stock and sean is right and mr. soldano wasn't clear. but the fact that i didn't hear anything close in the tone makes me (and gil) think we may be right best wishes, chuck |
