I've heard that a good place to mount the extra transformer is on the capacitor cover. You need to see what kind of clearence you have with the speaker magnet. I don't think you want them too close. I've done 6 volts DC to all the preamp tubes and driver with good results. then use the old AC filiment supply for the power tubes where there's hum canceling already. Also it lightens the load of both transformers. converting 6 volts ac to rectified DC will cause a voltage increase. mabe some one will chime in on that discussion
