The amp was quite obviously not designed around this use, but I usually see where I can find the best clean sound, and that is usually where it just needs to be turned up for the best overdrive IMHO. The Soldano was definately made to drive the preamp and then add volume with the master. Unfortunately, this gives a very dead and clacky sound to my ears. The more the master and presence is turned up, the better the overall sound. Looks like with the PCB board and no schematic, this one will probably go up for sale. John
