Also I don't want you to think I'm being combative, but where did you get the 5% figure for the average American? I don't think I've ever come close to that figure or even the 9%. My figures from last year show an adjusted gross income of $44,000 and federal tax of $9000. That's 20% more or less. Plus state income taxes, social security taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes on phone bills, gasoline, electric, natural gas, and beer . OOPS! I'd better stop, the veins popping out in my forehead are forcing my eyelids shut, blurring my vision. Anyway, if you can help me to get to the 9% figure I'll split the difference with you.
