Re: matchless letter from mark sampson
Steve,

Yes, the government of India is very top-heavy with bureaucracy. The examples in the show were it takes years (yes, years) to get a permit to start even a small business. That burden decreases the numbers of businesses, thus less competition… well, you know. But the government has all good intentions. They are there to protect the peoples, you know?

I've discussed this with several Indians that work for me and that is an accurate observation. In fact, one told me that one reason so many of them are here working in the high-tech industry is because it's almost impossible to start a software company there. And yeah, the standard of living in India is pretty low.

Then the show went to Hong Kong and it took about a day to open a business. Competition is fierce, prices are low (except on real estate) and everybody is working and moving up (financially).

Hey, on a different issue, did you get those schematics I sent you? I never heard back. Hope they're okay. After I digitized them I put my scanner out in the garage. My wife was having a fit about all the computer parts all over the dinning room. Well… Texas, 111 degrees, etc. Hooked it back up last weekend and guess what? Now it doesn't work. I suspect the heat, but I could be wrong.

If I ever leave Texas, it will be because I COULDN'T STAND THE WEATHER!

Cheers,

Steve Slick
