They're actually VERY cool sounding (bandmasters), If I could have afforded it, I would have snagged the bandmaster too. It had all the tone of my bassman but it broke up earlier, and it was lighter to carry. If you're playing lower volume gigs or you don't mind having to mic in larger places, I'd say it would be a GREAT amp to own or build a replica of.

Can't speak for building one. But I own a real 59
