Suitable Power/Output Transformer for Weber Chassis
Greetings All,

I am purchasing a Fender 5F6-type chassis from Ted Weber, and I need information regarding suitable power and output transformers to fit the holes and cutouts for this chassis. Ted himself told me to post here.

I have worked on tube amps for close to ten years, and have built numerous custom circuits and repaired hundreds of amps, so I am not a "Newbie". Let it be said that I have nothing against those just getting into this; this forum is a great source of information, but I just wanted to say that I know what I am doing from a tube electronics perspective (well, most of the time, nobody's perfect!).

The drawing (unfortunately low-res) for the chassis can be seen at:

Although the dimensions for everything are listed on the drawing, I am not certain what power transformer will fit into that cutout. Perhaps someone out there has used Ted's chassis products and knows? I would love to make this a 4xEL84 amp with a power transformer putting out around 325-360V, but I may be dreaming. This chassis is obviously made to power 6L6 tubes (plus rectifier). Still, I am not sure if a standard Twin Reverb-type transformer (like those from New Sensor) will fit into the cutout and bolt spacing.

Any comments about custom-wound power or output transformers are also appreciated.

Thanks in advance Ampagers,

Reverb
