Strange Selmer Standby Switch

SteveG	Strange Selmer Standby Switch How's that for alliteration! Anyway, I've just aquired a Selmer T'n'B, and looking at the schematic, it seems that the standby switch only switches off the B+ to the PI section. Even with the standby in the 'off' position, the amp passes a signal, but quiet and distorted. Does anyone know what the idea of this setup was?
