Jim	Re: Volume vs. Output stage OD....the eternal quest! I used to wrap a small piece of carpet over a 1-12 openback cabinet so I could crank up a 75watt(?) fender amp. It looked stupid, but it worked. I think carpet might sound better than a blanket because it won't 'muffle' the sound as much; you just have to turn the treble up more. Pointing the amp backwards towards a wall or corner helps too which 'fills the room up' without that 'in your face' volume.
