| Reverb | Re: 59 Fender Twin Mike, I heard that Kendrick stopped making those units, but it might be worth a call to them if you are really interested in using one. Just so you know, it is not a simple add-on to an original '59 Twin. You have to decide where you are going to tap off to drive the reverb circuitry/tank, and then decide where to tap back in. Getting the dry/wet mix right also requires tweaking. The reverb tank has to go somewhere also, which may cause some trouble with feedback if not placed/mounted correctly, since your amp didn't come with a tank originally. Give Gerald Weber a call at (512) 990-5486, and he can most likely offer some advice on this project. I see that Bruce mentions a unit from Holland, and by all means check out this possibility. I can't say that I know anything about the Holland unit. Reverb (tube or solid-state) can be added to any amp in a number of ways, but consideration should be given to the value of the amp, mods required to add it, the necessity of doing it, and ultimately, how good it will sound. I wouldn't mess up a perfectly good '59 Twin just for this, especially when an outboard unit will most likely sound better, be more rugged/roadworthy, and completely preserve the value of your amp. I can't imagine a much better sounding rig for steel than a '59 Twin coupled with outboard reverb. If I may suggest it, at least try your amp with an outboard unit before making mods to it. If you decide it is not the sound you want, then go from there. Reverb |
