Drives the amp a little harder, adds some gain for leads etc. The pedal is relatively transparent but does color the sound somewhat. The thought came to me that I was using a SS device to improve the sound of tubes! This may work in many cases, but being a tube snob I found this disturbing. I decieded to set the amp up for lead tone (higher gain) and use the EQ pedal to cut the signal for cleaner tones. I like this reverse logic approach better.
