I never cared all that much for all the speaker distortion with the 8 (some folks like it a bunch, I'm just not one of them). With the 10, you get more of everything; that is, you hear more of the amp's distortion than the speaker's (my guess is this will depend on what 10 you use--mine is way overrated for this application), and you get a lusher frequency reproduction (bass, mids, treble has more depth). As for darker or brighter, I think that'll depend on what you use. Predictably, there definitely is more presence. I like the mod. I have both baffles handy, though, in case I need that extra crunch the 8 supplies for recording. Gotta admit, though, that I haven't gone back to the 8 since I put the 10 in. Cheers, Don
