| danhei | Re: Bias pot Thanks for all the advice so far! Someone mentioned that I should have the amp checked to make sure it is working properly before getting new tubes. Can I check the amp myself? I am pretty new to tubes, though. The thing is I live in a relatively small town in Texas and I don't know of other places to take the amp to than the original tech and I don't want to take it to him again! Houston is only 1 1/2 hours away and I believe Big Cookie (he makes/fixes tube amps and is over on the FDP some) is about 4 hours away. I guess I just need to know if this is something I can handle on my own. If I were to retube it I'd probably drop in the svet 6550's as I've heard pretty much great things about svetlana. Are there any books and equipment I should be buying? I do have an analogue multimeter. Dan |
