Re: TUBE TESTER
My Hickock was formerly owned by the Shell Oil Research Labs instrument shop. The former owners took real good care of it, but they put an unsightly piece of yellowed masking tape near the bottom of the panel where they had written *6550 = KT88*.

I just left it there. Since then I have heard a few times to use the KT88 settings for testing 6550's.

Even though these tubes have somewhat overlapping but different bias ranges and power handling abilities, I'm sure the KT88 settings would be capable of accurately testing 6550's and matching them to as good a degree as would commonly be done on a tube tester anyway. It has worked with my 6550's & KT88's, also KT100, and I expect this would also be the best setting for KT90 but I haven't tried those yet.
