| jeff | Re: Tube Subs in 5E3 if you really want to learn more of this stuff from an engineering perspective vrs. a 'tip and tricks' perspective you might check out some of Kevin O'Connors books (londonpower.com) or just hang around this website for awhile. You can use 6L6'ers in a 5E3 ckt but they might not sound too good, (I tried s like around 440vdc and 35-45ma of bias . The 5E3 amp was designed for 6V6's which are about half the output of 6L6's. Using different rectifier tubes gives you different B+ voltages, try them out I say, but I think the 5U4G draws 3 amps vrs 2 amos for 5AR4, 5Y3 rectifiers, so check that your power tran can handle the current draw first. |
