there really isn't that much difference betw. guitar and bass amps. the bass amp will be a bit more "hifi" designed, with an eye toward max signal swings, due to its generally being played cleaner. good quality output iron is a must for the low frequencies.  
 
in other words, build a "guitar" amp of the power range you're interested in, and tweak to taste.
