So assuming you built a regulator like this, would it reallt live up to it's billing? One camp says tubes must be at (or sometimes above) their rated voltage, and biased at 70% max dissapation to get the good tone. This thread suggests a regulator that reduces the plate voltage and bias would let you get full volume tone at lower volume. Something's got ot give there... Is it a myth about hot tubes = good tone? Doesn't seem like it would be. So is it a myth that you could ever get full voulme tone at low volume?
