Re: Ruby Tone Bones?
BB,

Here is the info from the Ruby catalog:

"The tone bone is a plug and play adapter that allows you to use EL84's in place of 6L6GC, 5881, EL34 and 6V6GT power tubes in real Class-A operation. All supply voltages are auto adjusted by the tone bone, no adjustments or rebiasing are required. Each tone bone comes complete with a one selected Tesla EL84 tube.

Most musicians know the class-A, EL84 tone from the legendary Vox AC-30- sweet sustain, big three dimentional tone with decent compression and controllable distortion.

The overall power output is reduced so that satuartion of the output tubes occurs much sooner. The tone bones saturation distortion has great sustain, big fat tone, and the best possible dynamic response.

The tone bone is available in pentode or triode versions. The pentode improves tone quality and response without changing tone character. The triode version makes the tone smoother, the bass response tighter, and the top end silkier.

(Low tension models- plate voltages of less that 430 volts only. Recommended for Deluxe, Princeton, etc. High tention models graet with Twin Reverb, Showman, Bassman, etc.)"

The preceding is directly quoted from the Ruby catalog.

The price has been lowered to $75.00 retail each according to the new catalog.

I would not want to reccomend one model over the other because it is strictly a matter of choice.

I think to Vox AC-30 is pentode though. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Take Care,
Tim C.
